Christopher Paul Matthews

CHRISTOPHER PAUL MATTHEWS: Son of Peter & Margaret Matthews, nee Freemantle and elder of two sons.  He was born in Wallasey on 18th March 1978 and brought up in St Alban's Parish.  Following school and a short stint at University, Chris worked for the Diocese at both the Catholic Children's Society and the Diocesan Youth Service, before responding to a call to try his vocation at seminary.  He studied at St Cuthbert's Seminary, Ushaw, Co Durham for six years gaining a BA and MA in Theology and Ministry.

Chris was ordained Deacon in the college chapel by Bishop Kevin Dunn in 2006 and ordained to the presbyterate by Bishop Brian Noble on 26th of May 2007 at St Alban's, LIscard. 

Fr Chris is currently on the staff of the Cathedral in Shrewsbury, prior to this, as a Deacon he worked at Our Lady & the Apostles, Stockport.  He was also a founder member of the Wallasey to Lourdes Youth Group which is still going strong.

Chris has a great love of the liturgy, is a keen theatre goer and loves spending time with family and friends.
