Thomas Geraghty 1876-1878
Father Thomas Geraghty was born in Shrule, County Mayo on the 29 April 1847. He was the son of Timothy and Mary Geraghty, He was educated at the English College, Valladolid and was ordained by Bishop Thomas J Brown at Belmont Abbey, Hereford on 5 December 1869.
His first parish was St.Peter's Staleybridge between 1869-71, followed by St. Joseph's, Stockport between 1871-76, as a curate in both parishes. He became a rector at St Alban's, Liscard in 1876-78, then a rector at St Laurence's Birkenhead between 1878-80. Sadly, he died of rheumatic fever on 28 January 1880, and is buried at Flaybrick Hill Cemetary, Birkenhead.
