James Backinsell

I live in New Brighton with my wife, Maria and two young daughters Daisy and Kitty. I work as a civil servant in Liverpool. I have been attending St. Alban’s regularly since Spring 2008 and was immediately struck by how welcoming the parish community is. I had been attending mass with my wife since before we got married in 2004 but took the decision after arriving at St. Alban’s to enter full communion with the Church by joining the Enquiry Group. I was received at Easter 2009.

I was keen to explore my faith further and so Maria and I joined a one of St. Alban’s Small Christian Communities, which we find a rewarding experience in offering the opportunity to explore the Bible, faith issues and modern life with others. I wanted to also make a more practical contribution to parish life and get to know others involved in the church, so sought and gained election to the parish pastoral development group. I am already enjoying the role, and am looking forward to the opportunity to serve over the next four years!
