William Baines 1898-1900
WILLIAM BAINES: Son of Ralph and Anne Baines, nee Tickle. Born Rock Ferry 18th August 1874. Educated at Douai & Ushaw 1893-1898. Ordained by Bishop Allen at the Cathedral on 6th March 1898. Curate St Alban's, Liscard 1898-1900; curate SS Peter & Paul's, New Brighton 1900-1902; Started St John's, New Ferry parish in 1902. Resided at 12 Stanley Road 1902-1905, then 12 Parkfield 1905-1906, then present presbytery 1906-1917. Rector St Laurence's, Birkenhead 1917-1930. Retired to 55 Highfield Road South, Rock Ferry. Appointed Canon 1922. He died 4th December 1931 and is buried at Flaybrick Hill, Birkenhead.
