Francis McNichols 1933-1938
FRANCIS JOSEPH McNICHOLAS: Son of John & Bridget McNicholas (McNicholas). (The maiden name of the mother is not clear in the baptismal register but a priest relative confirmed the name as McNicholas). Born in Birkenhead on 7th March 1906 and educated at SFX Toulouse & Amiens. He was ordained by Bishop Singleton at Our Lady's, Birkenhead on 15th July 1928.
Curate: St Edward's, Runcorn 1928-33; St Alban's, Liscard 1933-38. PP St Mary's, Congleton 1938-48. Left to do pastoral work in South Africa. He retired in 1967 and went to live in Hackney, London. He died on 28th July 1977 and is buried at Moston Catholic Cemetery, Manchester.
