Welcome and opening prayer offered by Vicky Smerdon 2. Apologies : Deacon Dave, Michael Davies 3. Minutes of last meeting were accepted. 4. Any matters arising from minutes were covered by agenda items 5. Priorities for coming year a) Baptism preparation will be an LPA scheme involving catechists from all Parishes. Parents will be required to undertake preparation which will be consistent across all Parishes of the LPA thus avoiding parents approaching other Parishes for a different preparation programme. 5 names have gone forward for catechesis from our Parish and Fr. David asked if there were any further volunteers. Eileen put her name forward. Parental preparation may be followed up by visits from Parish catechists to try and build support between Baptism and School/Sacraments. That programme requires further discussion. Some discussion ensued round the involvement of a Mums/Toddlers group and /or the newly formed UCM. b) Fundraising for the Cambodia link over Christmas had been very successful. It was reported that the tree at the back of church had raised 5000. Fr. David reported he was hoping to go out to Cambodia this year. Vicky suggested that her forthcoming sponsored walk through the Mersey Tunnel could be in aid of the Cambodia link. The group were happy to agree to that suggestion. c) Fr. David explained in some detail the plans proposed by the sub-committee for the celebration of St. Albans feast and the anniversary of the Parish. A novena with the theme of our baptismal calling as Parish as People of God would run from 11th to 20th June. The novena would be conducted as a shared celebration by former priests of the Parish or priests ordained from the Parish. The individual themes for each day of the Novena were to be Parish as family, Parish as prophet, Parish as priestly people, Parish as kingly people, Parish as healing people, Parish as pilgrim people, Parish as evangelising people, Parish as worshiping people and Parish as communion. The group were happy to support the sub-committees proposal Suggestions for social activities for the weekend of the feast were discussed. These included a mini flower festival to be arranged by our own teams of floral arrangers. Background orchestral music could be provided by Wirral Schools String Orchestra during the festival. Michael will make this request with the Orchestras Musical Director and report back at next meeting. Sue/Gill to organise some form of refreshments at back of Church after evening services during Novena. Sue/Eileen to organise events for youngsters with particular aim at teens. This could be as an add-on to the Confirmation programme. Family fun day and cream teas during the weekend were also proposed. d) LPA penance service to be confirmed. Stations to be held during Lent. Michael to confirm provision of music for evening of Holy Thursday. Eileen demonstrated a number of books to use in conjunction with Stations for children e) May procession with Blessing of the Sick. Emmaus group would like to do portraits and collages for display in Church. Rosary groups to be held in parishioners homes. April meeting to be used to arrange these items. Fr. David will speak with Mary Odell re the making of a banner for the procession. 6. Items for next meeting A review of the groups progress against its aims and processes. 7.
